US Web Audience Growth in Last Decade

With more than 70% Americans taking to the internet for different purposes, the percentage of internet users has steadily increased in the past decade. Market study shows that this trend is likely to increase in the next decade as well, counting mobile internet users. Currently there are over 200 million daily internet users in America alone, with the figures likely to go up to 250 million in next five years.

This growth has been attributed to increasing population of older adults seeking information through the internet. Earlier internet was considered only an educational resource for young users, thus leaving the market for youngsters almost saturated. However with several businesses launching their websites, users in the age group of 45 and above have increased in the past decade. With internet becoming part of education for young children as well, growth in web audience falling in the age of 4-12 is also being anticipated.

As of now nearly 50% of users are in the age from 12 to 24, thus more students and job seekers form a large population of internet users in the US. Also many jobs becoming web oriented, web users falling in the age group of 25 – 45 have seen a steady increase. With businesses and market becoming global, internet usage is likely to grow at a faster pace in the coming years.
